midnight still life

I told myself I was going to sleep before midnight... then I said to myself just one QUICK painting... oh wells!... btw... that's a cool no-handle mug a bought in a hot chocolate specialty shop...mmmmm... hot chocolate.

a quick post... I was inspired from the 3 Trees and Tadahiro's workshop last week in Nucleus Gallery (which rocked!)... so here is a little sketch of a girl exiting in the less glamous side of la la land... it's my version of a happy scene with a twist of lemon. :)

Did this quick sketch of my view of Westwood from my workplace on the 18th floor... yup, that's LA colors baby! Moroever, I thought a border might be cool to show the greyness of the atmosphere...

westwood starbucks

I felt like drawing after work and I was going to draw some cool ideas for a game or something...however, the scene in front of me was too good to pass up. I drew/ painted this in my Moleskin sketchbook (forgot my watercolour one at home...oops) and I learned something new... the sketchbook series has a coating! It was like painting on wax paper...argh... but the good news is that it resulted in some cool aux naturale look... okay, I think I did enough babbling today...ciao!

These were my first attempts at watercolour...fast little guys...did both in about 30min...trying something new... hopefully I'll get better at these... wish me luck!

Westwood at night

I started doing watercolour for the first time last week as a way to start doing quick lunchtime paintings. But tonight I started a plein air painting in front of the famous Mann Village movie theatre with my watercolours. This was a 40min painting that I cropped and finished with photoshop. Enjoy!

This was done in the ArtCenter campus... Man! If only the clean up and setting up and shear weight of all the oil painting gear was less...argh... (sigh)... but it's still fun! hehehe
