An awesome painter in Dreamsworks (Nathan Fowkes) inspired my to do these studies... so some of us at work did studies from our spectacular 18th floor view of westwood in los angeles....enjoy!...the majority of these took between 10-20min to do for each. Enjoy!

From Lipking's x3 day Painting Workshop

Sorry for not posting for a while... but I had the tremendous opportunity to go to Jeremy Lipking's three day intense oil painting workshop in his studio and outdoors. Here are the results...

He was such a great instructor...thank you Jeremy, his wife Danielle, Eva, and Angela for making this past weekend possible. So much painting information and wisdom to digest... yahoo!

x2 color variations

Alright! here are the final two setting variations. I'm leaning to the night scene but I wanted to try a day scene just to see... I'm not too sure I want to go sooo tropical but I like the colors, so I may use it for a different scene.

Color Variations

Hmmmmm.... I'm working out another shot in this project of mine where Raffi gets transported to another island via these flamingos (yeah they need a workout or two). I want the scene to feel like when King Kong took Anne on his back around the island or taking a plane ride and seeing a foreign land for the first time. More work to do!

WIP...Raffi in his aptartment

Here's another WIP of my Raffi Vis Dev...lemme know what y'all think... anyways, I wanted the painting to look a little sad as if Raffi is stuck and wants something more... but at the same time I want the environment to feel like a real city (my version of SF). I wanted Raffi to feel small and insignificant to counterbalance how he will be depicted later on... enjoy!

Updated Website

On a side note... I updated my online portfolio! call it an art spring cleaning without the frayed matte board edges and dried turpentine containers.

Project Rafa Begins!

Okay! I've been doing a lot of sci-fi oriented stuff at work and frankly I need a change. I do not know what the future holds but I thought I should expand my artistic mindset and grow. Thus, I am starting this personal project. Whether it be a portfolio piece or something I can expand and develop into something more...that I do not know. But I do know that nothing moves forward without a first step. So, this is my first step. Gulp! From here on out I will post whatever I can and see what happens. Wish me luck and please write me back with any suggestions comments or whatever you so deem that could help me in this venture.

So, here goes... I am creating a story inspired from Alice in Wonderland. I know that I am more of a visual person as appose to a oral and literal one. Thus, I brainstorm with painterly visions.. or so I hope. Lemme know what you think.. I will post up some WIPs and whatever I have soon...

thanks again!

Beautiful nature

My friends think I'm weird for being at awe with the sky but today....man! what a sunset! Quick painting... probably 10min.
